- Are You My Mother? By P. D. Eastman, a classic first reader about a baby bird.
- The Listening Walk, by Paul Showers, a book of sounds heard while a father and child take a walk.
- In the Park, by Huy Voun Lee, a visit to the park in spring opens with a lovely haiku and introduces a few Chinese characters.
- A New Beginning, explains the spring equinox and includes seasonal activities and recipes.
- Miss Rumphius, by Barbara Cooney, the lovely story of the Lupine Lady.
- The Giant Carrot, by Jan Peck, based on a Russian folktale.
- The Secret Garden, by Frances Hodgson Burnett – one of my favorite children’s books, a timeless classic.
- Ronia, the Robber's Daughter, by Astrid Lindgren, famous for the Pippi Lockstocking series. This one is a personal favorite. Spring is an important turning point in the story.
- A Kid's Spring Ecojournal: With Nature Activities for Exploring the Season, by Toni Albert (there is one in this series for every season)
- The Happy Day
, by Ruth Krauss, a timeless classic for little ones, perfect for winter or spring.
